We are planning a 10 day trip this summer, going to Yellowstone NP and Bad Lands SD. We will/should have a couple of days at the end of our trip and we are thinking about swinging back through Branson MO. Neither of us have been there so our questions are: Whats there? We have been to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg TN. many times. For those that have been to both (Branson and Pigeon Forge) is Branson anything similar? We%26#39;ve noticed it has a few of the same things as Pigeon Forge.
Need info.
From what I have rad about pigeon forge ,
Branson has more to do,,,
Branson has the famous silver dollar city,
www.silverdollarcity.com/
It is such a unique theme park,
Nothing quite like it.
ANd there is a wide variety of shows,
And there is beautiful table rock lake,
You can take the branson belle showboat out for a cruise and dinner or lunch,
showboatbransonbelle.com
And there also are duck boat tours of the lake and lake taneycomo ,
Branson has a strip kind of like vegas,
Not casinos, But shows, hotels, shops,,,
It is called the 76 strip,,,,
At the end of the strip is the new beautiful Branson landing,
Shopping and restaurants ,
www.bransonlanding.com
And there is the dam site where you can learn about trout at the hatchery and even feed them ..Bring quarters for the machines,
There is a wide variety of lodging,
From condo%26#39;s to cabins to chain and mom and pop motels, and A couple of nice B%26amp;B%26#39;s
I will be happy to help with any lodging,,,
As great place to get ideas about good shows is
http://www.1branson.com/forum/index.php
Sign up with the forums and ask away,,,
You can learn alot..
A good piece of advice is stay away from the time shard booths all over town offering free tickets to shows..
They are high pressure, Just tell them you are local..they will leave you alone..
There are color coded maps to help you get around the 76 strip during peek hours,
The traffic can be crazy on the main strip like when shows are letting out.
You can get one at most hotels and online..
PLease ask anything else...
I know of some good lodging...

10 days... Approx. 1 1/2 to 2 days days driving each way? From the Black Hills/Badlands it is a 1/2 day to full day%26#39;s drive to Yellowstone. You could easily spend 5 days in the Black Hills as well as another 3 - 5 days in Yellowstone. You coul also spend about 5 days in Branson. Being Yellowstone %26amp; the Black Hills are the further destinations, perhaps you%26#39;d like to spend the majority of the time there and make a quick trip to Branson another time or extend your vacation days.
Branson %26amp; Pidgeon Forge are similiar. I believe that Dolly Wood was a Silver Dollar City for a short time when it first opened. We enjoy Branson more. Similar, yet more to do in Branson.
I%26#39;ve been to all three destinations numerous times.
I think the trip you have planned to Yellowstone/Blackhills will provide you with plenty to do. I suggest spending time in historic Deadwood SD, as well as, Keystone, and Hill City.
There are tons of things to do there...you can visit Custer State Park see buffalo and feed the burros,Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse memorial, take in one of the cowboy chuckwagon dinner/shows (we did Flying T),go on a trail ride, tram ride, discover caves, gold mines and ride the 1880%26#39;s train.
Order a free guide at www.blackhillsbadlands.com
Also I would recommend two restaurants we enjoyed, Ruby House and Alpine Inn. Search Deadwood, Keystone %26amp; Hill city on trip advisor to get more ideas.
Stop at Custer%26#39;s last stand on your way to Y/Stone very educational and moving experience.
Branson is similiar to P/F %26amp; Gatlinburg...Silver Dollar City use to be located in PF and is now Dollywood. My preference is the smokies, at least here I can get away from the shops/shows and get into the mts/nature plus there is tubing and rafting which Branson does not offer.
You can get away to nature in Branson in the Mark Twain forest and the many hiking trails in and around Branson and you can canoe in many areas around it too. Pick certain locations on Table Rock lake and you would never see a shop.
