Ghost Tours?

We will be visiting family in St. Louis in a couple of weeks. Are there any organized ghosts tours or interesting cemetery tours in the city? Our adult son, who is traveling with us, loves that stuff.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ghost Tours?

Try the Lemp Mansion

I%26#39;ve also heard a little about Alton, Il. (just north of St. Louis on the illinois side of the river)

I have not tried either.

There is a guy who is on a local radio show every tuesday and he studies the paranormal. I%26#39;d suggest contacting him for some of the best places to visit. His name is Dr. Michael Lynch w/ Paravisions.

Ghost Tours?

I%26#39;m not sure about organized cemetery tours, but Calvary and Bellefountaine cemeteries have hundreds of well known ';residents';. The latter was featured in the paper today for its unique mausoleum architecture. I know Calvary offers maps at the office to locations of famous graves for anyone interested in a self-guided driving tour. The cemeteries are located next to one another. Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in south StL County is also very humbling due to its size and the number of uniformly spaced military graves.

8435 Roanoke Drive is the site of the haunting that inspired the original Exorcist movie. The home is up near the airport off Natural Bridge Road. I think the neighborhood is called Bel-Nor. Google maps will get you there, but I think it%26#39;s a private residence. Check out this story:

Also, just seconding the above comments: I don%26#39;t know of anyone who has been to the Calvary cemetary and not been impressed. It%26#39;s a who%26#39;s who for early St. Louis. Wm. Clark (of Lewis and Clark fame) is the most famous of the interred, along with both Anheuser and Busch. You can check out the Calvary website for a big list of notables. A lot of the folks would only be of interest to St. Louisans (you%26#39;ll see a few of our prominent street names), but the crypts and such are really something to see. Very ornate. My teenage boys thought it was cool and I have been through five or six timee. Your son will love it.

Like the earlier posters said, the Lemp Mansioin and Alton Illinois are both well know for their ghosts.

Thanks for all the good info. My parents are buried in Calvary. I knew they did tours, but I don%26#39;t know if its a regularly occuring thing. The ghost hunt at Lemp Mansion is not going on while we will be in town. The Alton thing looks pretty good and it is going on while were in town, so that may be what we do.

I was supposed to go on this one last year around halloween. If you do go please give us a report back.

Well, thanks to everyone for their good info on the ghost tours. As it turned out, we didn%26#39;t get to do any of them. We planned on heading to St. Louis earlier Friday than we did because of unforseen complications. So, we didn%26#39;t get there in time to go on a tour then and we had family commitments Saturday and Sunday evening.

Anyway, I%26#39;ve made notes so we can catch one the next time we%26#39;re there. We visit St. Louis about once a year to see family.
