I just had a quick question regarding the Metro. My wife, son (15 months), and I are staying at the Union Station Marriott (great deal on Hotwire btw). The metro is right there at Union Station but the hotel website says that it is .5 miles from mass transit. What gives? Is this just wrong or is the complex so large that it is just that long of a walk?
We are planning to use the metro to get to most major downtown attractions (stadium, arch, maybe forest park). I just want to reaffirm that the Metro is the best bet for this stuff. Obviously, there will be a few attractions that we will have to drive to as well (Ted Drewes, Grant%26#39;s Farm, maybe Cahokia Mounds).
Thanks in advance!

That number is a little inflated. I just checked the walking distance using Google maps, assuming that you walked it outside (Market to 18th %26amp; Clark) and it%26#39;s only 0.2 miles that way. I think you%26#39;d be shaving some distance off by cutting through Union Station.
You might also consider using Google maps (www.maps.google.com) to check out walking distances. I%26#39;d personally hoof it from Busch to the Arch, if you wanted to go right from one to the other but Metrolink will get you there as well.
You can get the best info about where to get on and off the train here: http://tripfinder.metrostlouis.org/
Both Google Maps %26amp; Tripfinder let you search by Landmarks so you don%26#39;t need to know addresses.

Union Station is about the size of an average shopping mall. the Marriott is on the east side and to get to the MetroLink stop, you have to walk through the mall, across the parking lot and across the street. Probably not a half mile, though. I would describe it as ';a couple of blocks'; if that helps.
I think you%26#39;ll enjoy staying at Union Station. If you have any questions about St. Louis, drop me a line. I work just down the street.
