Hermann

We want to stop in Hermann this Sat, on our way to the lake, we have 2 boys 11 and 8 and they want to take a winery tour, does anyone have any suggestions which winery, and any restaurant suggestions?

thanks

Hermann

Stone Hill is the only winery that I know has a full blown winery tour. As for the other wineries, in my opinion, Adam Puchta has the best tasting and Oak Glen has the best scenery. Bias also has a brewery associated with it.

There is a restaurant at Stone Hill winery (Vintage Restaurant) that is pretty good for German food. If you want barbecue, there is a place called Montagues. For lunch counter type food check out the Downtown Deli and Custard Shoppe (I highly recommend the smoked chicken salad sandwich). Sharp Corner Tavern has very cheap bar type food.

And, since I tell this to pretty much everyone that goes to Hermann... if you like good sausage, be sure to check out Swiss Meat Company. They are a few miles south of Hermann on Highway 19, you can%26#39;t miss it. They make some of the best sausage around and they have samples that you can try in their ';showroom';. Some people recommended it to us when we went to Hermann the first time and we try to make it a point to stop by every time we%26#39;re in the area.

jvalh06 summed it up prefect! I second Adam Puchta- the tasting was great. We ate at the Deli too and enjoyed it. We also liked ';Time for Pie'; which I think is serving sausages from the Swiss Meat Co.

Have a good time.

prefect=perfect. I need to lay off the sauce.
