We%26#39;re trying to plan a long weekend for our anniversary and are looking hard at Branson as a place to stay. Neither of us have been there, I%26#39;m more into classic rock while my wife likes today%26#39;s country music. We both enjoy comedy shows. Since it%26#39;s our anniversary I want to make sure the hotel is very nice, with the Marriott Horizons %26amp; the Hilton being ranked 1st %26amp; 2nd by Tripadvisor we are trying to see which is ';better';. Lots of questions but I%26#39;m hoping to get some feedback on where to stay, things to see, where to eat, etc.... from the ';veterans'; of Branson. Thanks for the help !!! BadgerFan 78
Anniversary weekend help needed
Of the 2 hotels you mention, I%26#39;d recommend the Hilton at the Landing. Never stayed there, but it is new, close to lots of shopping and good restaurants (walking distance). Go to 1branson.com and look around the lodging forum and the shows forum ---- you%26#39;ll get reviews of a wide variety there.....ask your questions on 1Branson.com and you%26#39;ll get lots of feedback. Lots of veteran Branson vacationers there ------ also several %26#39;locals%26#39; are regular posters. Enjoy Branson....we make several trips a year to Branson!
Anniversary weekend help needed
Since you and your wife like comedies, I%26#39;ll highly recommend you to go and see Yakov Smirnoff%26#39;s show. He%26#39;s really hilarious and the opening act before he comes out is equally good. Jim Stafford has a great show as well. There%26#39;s the IMAX shows as well.
We%26#39;re just getting ready to return to Branson and I noticed a couple of show%26#39;s we haven%26#39;t seen before that look interesting. Broadway - The Star-Spangled Celebration, Island Fire. The Branson Belle showboat gets great reviews. Then there%26#39;s the Acrobats of China and magic shows. Another web-site for show listings is www.reservebranson.com/listings.asp
I%26#39;m not sure what the hotel is ranked, but my parents really love The Radisson for the sleep number beds.
I%26#39;m wanting to check out Tony Z%26#39;s Italian for a meal while there. The menu looks great, they get really good reviews, and should be a good place for a nice anniversary dinner. www.tonyzbranson.com .
Well, The hilton at the landing is super nice and the views are beautiful.
If you would like a private cottage feel there is a cute little cottage on vrbo.com that has a private hot tub..
It would be kinda like living like a local,,
http://www.vrbo.com/199948
As far as shows, Island fire and six are really great shows..
And even legends in concert is fun,
They are now located in dick clarks theater.
As far as a really good restaurant goes, give cantina laredo at the landing a shot...
Very nice, great food....
As well as the romantic candle stick restaurant across the lake from the landing,,
I tried tony z%26#39;s the above poster suggested,
We had a really bad experience there,
I wasn%26#39;t impressed, and it is kinda hard for new people to find,
The branson belle is fun,
It is one of my favorite things to do, The food is good, not great,,,But the cruise and the show is fun.
Try taking a peek at the forums at www.1branon.com
For more helpful info...
Say howdy to me ...
I am the same name there,,,,,,
Thanks for the info on the other websites, I%26#39;ll certainly check them out. Does anybody know if the Hilton Convention Center hotel INCLUDES breakfast with their room rates? The Marriott doesn%26#39;t and also charges extra for housekeeping(allegedly) so that makes the Hilton the front-runner for now. Is the pool area at the Hilton big enough to ';unwind'; or is it overrun with kids having fun?(nothing against kids having fun, just want to know if that%26#39;s the norm) I don%26#39;t like Mexican food that much, but both of us LOVE barbecue ribs/chicken and I enjoy a good steak too. I%26#39;m just trying to get a ';game plan'; together and try to hit as many destinations as possible in 3 days. Thanks again for all the help !!!
I see you found 1branson.com.....you%26#39;re sure to get lots of good information there.
Here are some barbeque restaurants in Branson:
Danna%26#39;s....a non-chain restaurant that is very good.
Very casual atmosphere, you order your food at the counter and they bring it to your table.
Famour Daves - on the Landing.....A chain establishment that has very good food and big portions.
Rib Crib --- Another chain, food is ok
Odees --- A local restaurant. They are just now opening in their 3rd location. Lost their lease, moved, then had a fire, They also have steaks and other offerings on their menu and Odees is a favorite among the locals.
But I think Dannas would get the rating as the all time local favorite.
For a really nice meal, lots of people recommend the Keeter Center at the College of the Ozarks. This is a school where the students do %26#39;all the work%26#39;, earning their entire room and board, and tuition fees. Their Sunday brunch gets high reviews. The college grounds are a interesting place to spend some time too......they have a greenhouse, a working grist mill, a bakery and a really good museum.
You both like comedy, I recommend Paul Harris Live. He%26#39;s at the Clay Cooper Theater only on Thursday and Friday nights. Paul will have you laughing till you cry! And for country music, Clay Cooper can%26#39;t be beat! He does traditional country, new country, has really good dancers on his stage, and his comedian is one of the best. ANd Johnny Lonestar, from America%26#39;s Got Talent, he%26#39;s a trick roper. We have tickets to see BOTH Paul Harris and Clay Cooper this week end!
Enjoy your time in Branson, and if you have any particular questions, I%26#39;ll sure try to help out!
I believe Tony Z%26#39;s is closed. We were planning on eating there a few weekends ago on a Friday night and they were closed! I couldn%26#39;t believe it - so disappointed! So, I would recommend the Candlestick Inn probably for a nice anniversary dinner.
As far as accommodations, I prefer vacation homes as opposed to hotels ;)
Legends is a fun show - has a little bit of everything.
