Shoji show -- Is this a good choice for our group?

We%26#39;re doing a long weekend trip to Branson with the following age group: 83, 73, 73, 53, 48, 47, and 13. Many in our party have never been to Branson and would like to see a Branson show. No one is really into country music. Two people love classical music, but that%26#39;s not a real favorite with the others. The seniors aren%26#39;t that fond of rock music, although the others could enjoy a rock tribute show. All enjoy patriotic / traditional american music and could probably go for a variety show with singing and dancing (Lawrence Welk kind of stuff perhaps a little updated). What we picked was a variety show (Shoji Tabuchi). We could cancel, though, and pick something else. Do you think Shoji%26#39;s show would be a good choice for our group? What else would you recommend?

Shoji show -- Is this a good choice for our group?

It is a great show. My wife %26amp; I saw the show a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

I%26#39;m glad to hear you enjoyed it. I%26#39;m thinking our group will too. It sounds like there is a wide variety of music that they play and some great production numbers. I%26#39;m looking forward to it.

We%26#39;re frequent visitors to Branson, and country music is our choice of shows. Having said that, we have attended the Shoji show twice......much variety, lots of elaborate costumes and lighting and

probably the most %26#39;elaborately staged production%26#39; show you can see in Branson. He probably gets as many tour busses in his theater as any one in Branson does (with the exception of Daniel O%26#39;Donnell!) Not something that we%26#39;ll probably see again, but we did enjoy it the 2 times we went. I can%26#39;t think of another show to recommend that would %26#39;appeal to the wide variety of ages/tastes in your group. I think the one you chose is probably the best one for your bunch!

Thanks shis1,

I really appreciate the feedback. It%26#39;s good to hear that this would be a good bet for our group.

I%26#39;ve taken 15 bus tour groups of seniors to Branson over the years. Each time I have asked them to rate the 6 to 9 shows they have see. And if they have seen Shoji on the tour they always rate it as their favorite show! Number one over all the rest.

Therefore I would certainly encourage your group to see his show. I would strongly suggest that you make it the last show that you see before leaving Branson as all the other shows will pale in comparison.

He is very talented and plays a great variety of all kinds of music from show tunes to country. My passengers also love listening to him speak to the audience between numbers. He has a far larger supporting cast than any of the other shows. He also includes special techniques in his show like lasers. It certainly is the glitiest show in Branson but very entertaining.

Two special hints re: what I used to do with my seniors are as follows:

--Get there early(at least 1/2 hour before the show) so that your people can visit the bathrooms. Thay are a show in themselves. Get 4 men together to play pool on Shoj%26#39;s $16,000 pool table in the men%26#39;s. It%26#39;s an experience they%26#39;ll never forget.

--For those who would like to meet Shoji and get a picture with him--Have them get their camera ready and go down in front of the stage at intermission. The fellow there will even take your picture with your camera for a great remembrance.

The other choices that I got from the groups were The Prestlys%26#39;(a great family show that was the first on the strip). Yakov Shmirnoff for great clean humor. Andy Williams when he%26#39;s around. Doug Gabriel for a morning show(what a talent and a Fantastic voice). Seniors love Daniel O%26#39;donnel whenever he%26#39;s in Branson. I really can%26#39;t comment on some of the newer shows.

I assure once they%26#39;ve been there they will want to go again. Even though I%26#39;m retired from the bus tours, I%26#39;m taking my wife to Branson tomorrow.

Thanks Dick. Your comments make me feel very good about picking this show. We%26#39;ll have to get there early to check out the bathrooms. We%26#39;re only in the area for three nights and this is the only show we have tickets for. Other activities will be Silver Dollar City, the tram ride at Dogwood Canyon, some fishing for my son, and shopping for my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. The Shoji show will be one we all see together on our last night.
