itinerary for 3 and 5 year old

I am looking for some advice for planning a trip with preschoolers (3 and 5).

I am thinking of staying 2 or 3 nights.

This is what I have in mind:

Magic House

Six Flags

Grant%26#39;s Farm

St. Louis Science Center

Missouri Botanical Garden

For that age, do you think we should also visit the following?

City Museum

St. Louis Arch

What hotels would you recommend? We would like something within 30 min. drive of the above. Should we stay at Drury Plaza Hotel ?

itinerary for 3 and 5 year old

Magic House - yes

Six Flags - I think they are a little young.

Grant%26#39;s Farm - yes

Science Center - maybe a bit young.

Botanical Garden - yes

City Museum - a bit young

Arch - yes

I would stay in Kirkwood area, which would be a good central location for those activities. Safe area, as well.

What do you think would be better for a 3 and 5 year old? Gran%26#39;s Farm or the Zoo?

I think either one would be a great choice for that age. There is much more walking at the zoo. My kids love the zoo because there is obviously more animals to see there and it is a great zoo, but they also love Grant%26#39;s Farm because they get to feed the goats, see the Clydesdales, and ride the tram ride throughout the property and see many different animals there, such as buffalo, zebras, etc. Both the Zoo and Grant%26#39;s Farm are free, but charge for parking. Free parking can be found at the zoo on the street, however.

I don%26#39;t know that I would rule out Six Flags depending on what you and they like. There is a fairly new children%26#39;s section there and a water park with a children%26#39;s play area if you are going in the summer.

Other popular children%26#39;s activities are Purina Farms and the Butterfly House.

I have two boys ages 3 and 5 and I would recommend the Magic House, The Zoo, Grants Farm, City Museum, and The Science Center. The latter two are more geared to the older kids, but both of mine had a great time and have asked to go back plenty of times. The Drury is an excellent chioce. If you stay downtown, you can take 44 in the direction of the Magic House and Grants Farm.

Have a great time.

I would definitely recommend the St Louis Zoo--it is truly one of the best!! And it is free. I think they would enjoy Grant%26#39;s Farm, and the Magic House. The Arch is great--you can ride to the top. Maybe take a picnic lunch and eat on the grounds at the Arch too. The Science Center is great--I think there%26#39;s enough for your children%26#39;s ages. They have a room for toddlers/preschoolers if you find the main part is a little over their heads. I think there is enough to interest them, though. Be sure to walk across the bridge that leads to the Planetarium. Currently there is construction but normally it goes right over the interstate. My children like watching the construction crew at work. Have a fun time!

Magic House - definitely!

Six Flags - definitely! (large kids area as well as the water park)

Grant%26#39;s Farm - we prefer the Zoo (they have a new play area that is free and absolutely awesome), but either is great

St. Louis Science Center - we didn%26#39;t stay too long, as it is more geared to the older (8 and up) kids

Missouri Botanical Garden - never been

For that age, do you think we should also visit the following?

City Museum - wait until they are older

St. Louis Arch - cool ride to the top, but they may not be interested in the museum

Purina Farms is a good suggestion. Expect to spend 2 hours or so there. You can check out Shaw%26#39;s Arboretum, too, while in the Gray Summit area.

Butterfly House is really neat, but they may be more interested in the really cool playground there.

Also check out the Museum of Transportation close by Kirkwood if they like trains. You can find a coupon online, and you definitely want to go to the Learning Center area.

The Missouri Botanical Garden (';Shaw%26#39;s Garden'; to St Louisans) is the finest botanical garden in the world. I%26#39;d put it on the list right after the Zoo, considering the ages of your children. It is a spectacular place.

I have a 3 year old girl. I think the Butterfly house is spectacular for kids of this age. You can never go wrong with the zoo - they also have a small butterfly house. Grants Farm is a good time, too though, plus mom and dad can get a free beer or two. We took her to the Botanical Garden last Saturday and she had a great time in the playground. Please note it costs a couple dollars extra (no charge for parents). I agree the City Museum and Science Center are better for older kids. If you don%26#39;t mind waiting to get in, you might want to visit Crown Candy on the near north side (St. Louis Ave.) Go in the afternoon for an ice cream.

Since I have a season pass at Six Flags (admission and parking), I think I might as well try out Six Flags in St. Louis. My kids are 36%26#39;%26#39; and 42%26#39;%26#39; tall. I think there are a lot of rides which they can go on (if the rides in St. Louis are similar to the ones at the Gurnee location).

I decided to use Drury Inn %26amp; Suites.
