Co Co Key waterpark hotel

My family and I are trying to ';kill two birds with one stone';. Normally we visit Dells in May. This year for Spring Break the kids want to visit KCMO. If we visit Kansas City we will definately not do the Dells in May. I did some searching of waterpark hotels in the city and 2 names came up. Great Wolf (in Kansas) and the Co Co Key in Kansas City. I can%26#39;t seem to find any reviews on the Co Co Key property. I already know what to expect from Great Wolf. Has anyone been to the Co Co Key hotel and if so did your kids enjoy it? What about the restaurants and game room?

My kids are ages 2, 6, and 10. They are not water fanatics but enjoy the lazy river, water basketball, and the little slides.

Any thoughts would be great

CoCo Key has water B-ball,lazy river, it has a big bucket that fills up with water and dumps over. My girl is 12 and she loved the place. There is a small A and W / Pizza Hut place in there too. Its right across the street for the Baseball and Football complex.

I just went there this weekend.

It%26#39;s okay, but I%26#39;m guessing Great Wolf would be better (even though I%26#39;ve never been to Great Wolf).

The Sheraton we stayed at had the CoCo Key, and I wanted to be able to use the online special for 4 passes for $80 (instead of $100). When I got in line and asked to use the special they told me it was online only. I had to then go up to my room and use my phone%26#39;s browser to buy the stupid package online. Thankfully they didn%26#39;t require the printout receipt--they had it in the computer when I went back down to pick up the four passes.

They have a nice little raft ';river'; that goes around the perimeter of the water park. You can hang out on the raft with your kids and the water goes 3 mph or so. The water is maybe 3.5 feet deep there and there are various things above that squirt or dump water on you as you go around.

In the middle there are some jungle gym-type steps that take you to 2 medium-sized slides. There is a lifeguard at the top that tells you when you can go. (One slide was a tube type, completely covered, the other was open at the top so you could see your surroundings). Each of these slides was pretty fun, my six year old loved them, but my four year old was too scared to do them. They took maybe 10 seconds to get down to the bottom.

There is a small yellow tame slide in the jungle gym area in the middle--which my four year old and six year old both liked. It is like your typical playground slide--straight, no bumps, no curves. It took maybe 2 seconds to do, and another 15 seconds to climb back up to use them.

There is a zero-depth entry pool on the outside for smaller kids. My 1 year old and 4 year old hung out there with mom for most of the day. (Both were too scared to ride on the ';river.';) There is a ring of suspended buckets that fill up with water and once full will dump water on your head. All the kids seemed to like this, but grew bored with it after a couple of minutes. There are also a few small water slides that take you into the pool. My four and six year old put some miles on those. :)

Then they have some really awesome big slides that start about 4 stories in the air. There are two slides that you can ride on tubes with (double tubes are okay) and a smaller slide for individuals without the tube. The line is long (on Saturday, when we were there) and takes about 5-10 minutes to get to the front of the line. But once you are there, the ride is awesome. It takes about 30-45 seconds to get to the bottom, and it is pitch black, so you have no idea what lies ahead. All my kids (ages 6, 4, 1) were too scared to go down this slide, so this one was for dad only.

I think all your kids would find something fun at CoCo Key, but, like I said, I think Great Wolf would be better from what I%26#39;ve heard.

Thank you for your opinions and reviews. Currently we are in Kansas City (staying with family) and tomorrow we will head over to kansas to stay at the Great Wolf. We are definately looking forward to this stay at the GW.

I%26#39;m assuming the poster already went on their trip..but my daughter has been to both CoCo Keys and the Great Wolfe and (like you guessed coachmcquirk) she said the Grea Wolfe is a lot better.
