This weekend Staying with my teenage daughter

We are coming for a three day volleyball tournament- staying at the Crowne Plaza (hoping the renevations have at least been done to the rooms!) I would love suggestions for non-chain restaurants for breakfast lunch and dinner? Also, I read about a first friay art walk- is that near where we are staying? Any good antique , boutique or eclectic shops nearby? We have alot of down time and we have never been to the city before! Thanks for your suggestions.

The majority of the Crossroads Art District is 8-10 blocks south of the Crowne Plaza, albeit spreadout.

There is FREE trolley service featured in the Arts District with many trolley stops near the galleries. (You might check with your hotel to see if they offer transportation to the Crossroads Art District on First Fridays. Many do.) Once you are there you can take the trolley around to the galleries and restaurants.

When you are done, if you are not driving a car, you can easily catch a cab to your hotel in front of the Westin Hotel across from Union Station. (A lot of the Art District is behind Union Station.) You can enter Union Station using the walkbridge in the parking lot for Lidia%26#39;s and then take The Link (enclosed walkbridge) to the Westin.

As for eclectic shops, there are a few in Crown Center, which is attached to the Westin Hotel.

The new Power and Light District near your hotel offers quite a variety of eating establishments.

Another area you might want to visit is The Plaza. There are many unique shops there. Window shopping at its best.

Enjoy your trip.

Enjoy your visit.

For Breakfast on Saturday am I love Cascones in river Marker. Not far from your hotel. Also for lunch can sit out side of winslow%26#39;s BBQ and people watch. Bo Lings is good for dinner

Power and light is good for eating/drinking but no shopping. Most places are chains. If you need to grab a quick bite- Hit Cosstinos; grocery store. They have EVERYTHING in there

Plaza has nice shops and places to eat. Classic cup is good for any meal of the day. Many chains there too

right off the plaza is Winsteads- a Kansas city tradition for burgers- also serve breakfast
